Dr. Amanda Jeffrey Platter

Dr. Amanda Jeffrey Platter is the Clinical Director of Platter Psychological Services. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience across healthcare, education, and community mental health.


Dr. Platter earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, an APA-accredited program jointly sponsored by The College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Old Dominion University, and Norfolk State University.


Her expertise spans trauma-informed care, PTSD treatment, substance use, psychological assessment, and therapy for individuals, families, and veterans. She has worked in diverse settings including the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and university counseling centers, and has supervised master's-level clinicians while conducting advanced psychological testing.


In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Platter has published and presented on topics including substance abuse, trauma, psychopathy, and family dynamics. She has taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses and also served abroad as an ESL instructor.


Passionate about accessible, evidence-based care, Dr. Platter integrates cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and trauma-focused approaches to help clients navigate challenges and build resilience.
